Choosing a pendulum is like choosing a new puppy or kitten – you can rarely go wrong. But there are still a lot of decisions to make. Do I pick a metal, gemstone, or crystal one? What shape do I need? How much do I spend? Will it work for me?
At Precision Pendulum, we guarantee that all our pendulums have gone through the most stringent quality checks before they are shipped out so that you have the peace of mind that the pendulum you get will be of the highest quality. First, let me give you some general details about pendulums. All metal pendulums are made by machines and, therefore, the shapes are constant and do not vary. The qualities of the work and material do vary, however. Shoddily made metal pendulums are not always symmetrical and do not balance, giving uneven swings when in use. Most metal pendulums have a brass alloy base, some of them are then plated in gold or silver. Bronze and copper pendulums are also common. As everything else, metals also have different qualities, as does the plating. Badly plated pendulums will have the surface flake off in no time. The terms “gemstone” and “crystal” are often interchangeable when referring to pendulums although they really are two different materials. In general, crystals are ones which have the glass-like appearance. Some are see-through most are not, but all have the mysterious I-can-almost-see-something-underneath-the-surface quality. Quartz is a crystal, for example. Gemstones are rocks, they look solid and there is no chance of seeing anything underneath. Their beauty is what you see on the surface, but it is a beauty which goes all the way through to the core, like lapis lazuli, for example. All gemstone/crystal pendulums are made by hand because machines cannot handle the delicate shaping process yet. For this reason, the sizes of gemstone/crystal pendulums vary, and because they are naturally formed materials, their colours also vary. There are no two gemstone/crystal pendulums which are exactly the same. Each one is unique in the world. Remember that a pendulum is made from precious stones or metals and there is a lot of work involved in making them. No one can sell a genuine one to you for peanuts. If they do, it means there is something wrong with the materials. It is especially popular in Asia to produce "gemstones" with synthetic materials which they dye and chemically treat to pass as real gemstones. Almost no pendulums coming out of China use real natural gemstones. The prices of genuine pendulums are generally pretty low anyway, why buy one that you will throw away in the end? The best shape for a pendulum is one which has a point at the bottom. Earth is the most powerful element on Earth. Life grows on earth, gravity pulls us firmly to earth, one way or another we will all end up back as one with earth. This is why the huge majority of pendulums have a pointy bit at the bottom, pointing down to earth. Other than that, the shape of a pendulum really is in the eye of the beholder. Now, how do you know which pendulum is best for you? Every one of us has a preconception of what beauty is. Every now and again we surprise ourselves by going out of this preconception. There is no difference here. Look at all the pendulums which attract your eyes right away. Do you feel anything? Which one is calling to you? Close your eyes, block everything out and picture it in your mind’s eyes. Is there a slight tingle? An almost undetectable tremor or warmth you know wasn’t there before? Give it a few seconds – anything? If not, move on to the next pendulum and repeat the process until you have found the one. Sometimes you know it is the one from the first moment you lay eyes on it. It is absolutely alright to feel a tingle with more than one pendulum. A pendulum will never get jealous if you get more than one. In fact, getting more than one will enhance the possibility of what you can do because pendulums have different properties. If you have tried every pendulum and still feel no tingle – fear not! Your pendulum isn’t choosing you – you just have to choose it! After all, you ARE the master. Pick one that you like best, one most pleasing to your eyes, one that you know you can love. Just remember that when picking a gemstone/crystal pendulum you will not get exactly the one in the picture as no two gemstone/crystal pendulums are exactly the same. This is when the pendulum picks you. From all the pendulums in stock at the retailer, the pendulum being sent to you gets picked. At random? By chance? Or is there a higher power connecting you to the pendulum? When you get you pendulum in the mail, look through it in detail. Examine all its unique characteristics and attributes. Yes, even metal pendulums made by machines will have their own unique characteristics and attributes. Sometimes you will connect right away with your pendulum. Sometimes it takes a little longer. Do not worry if it will work. You are the master, now make it obey. Sooner or later, it will always work.
